LBG in Baby Food: Reflux Prevention and Stabilization
Infant nutrition formulation is a careful balancing act: enough viscosity to do its job, but never at the expense of a smooth, easy-to-feed texture. LBG has a long track record in exactly this space.
Why Viscosity Matters in Infant Formula
Anti-reflux (AR) infant formulas use controlled thickening to reduce how often infants regurgitate. The thickening agent has to increase viscosity predictably, without touching the nutritional profile or digestibility of the formula.
How LBG Is Used
LBG goes in at a low dosage, typically 0.1% to 0.3%, to thicken the formula in a controlled, gentle way. It's a natural, well-characterized ingredient, which is why it fits cleanly into infant nutrition label requirements.
Consistency Across Batches
Batch-to-batch consistency matters more here than in most applications. INCOM's A-01 grade, with its tight viscosity specification (2800–3000 cps), is what we'd recommend where precise, repeatable thickening is non-negotiable.
Regulatory Considerations
As with any infant nutrition ingredient, formulators should confirm regional regulatory requirements for anti-reflux formula additives on their end. INCOM provides full documentation (CoA, TDS, SDS) to support those submissions.
